  • How we achieved the soft, beautiful natural light patterns without external strobes or even reflectors
  • We give you a unique through the viewfinder and drone footage views so you can understand how we found the catchlights in the eyes and how we calculated the direction and quality of light
  • How that natural light pattern illuminated the eyes so we’d reduce time spent in post correcting eyes!
  • Understand the relationship between the ambiance of the background and the subject and how you can change the subject’s position to create different end results E.g More pop of the subject from the background vs more balanced ambiance between the subject and background
  • Learn how to implement kelvin white balance and how moving the subject into shadows alters your white balance. This is a fundamental of getting the right skin tones before post-processing
  •  Even out unbalanced skin tones in Photoshop using Hue and Saturation slider as well as different ways to use frequency separation
  • How we altered the tones of the final image and added some magic glow for that extra special finish!

An excellent video, Dan. Have you tried using Capture One for evening skin tones? It really excels at the task.

Thank you for your kind words. I have Capture one but don’t use it as the workflow in PS is simplified so much making tonal corrections even in the hardest situations easier. E.g in newborns with bad skin one needs to be able to have granular control of color selection as well as having the ability to use FS (Frequency separation)

This tutorial is now one of my favorites. He gives so much information on how to get it right in camera, and then in the edit process, he shows you how to add that zing to your images without looking overdone. This tutorial is great for learning how to edit skin and enhance eyes in a way that looks natural. I am a new subscriber, and I love having access to so many videos.

I love, love, love this tutorial! The attention to skin tones and enhancement of the eyes is excellent. Great job Daniel! I am so happy I got the annual membership. I have learned so much in such a short period of time.

This is the 3rd Edit i have done during Covid-19 down time. Again, I chose this because the RAW file is provided and I can follow along and learn better. I think this needed NIK plug in’s but the plugs in’s I had downloaded 2 years ago or so wouldn’t load into Photoshop 2020 for me. had to skip that part.
I also ran into Object Selection issue because it didnt show in my Photoshop only to learn i was using the 2019 version on my desktop and that is in the 2020 version. So once i changed over to see it, i was able to utilize it. Excellent edit and fun to do! Onto the next edit..

Thank you Sandy! Yes it’s possible to add the old Nik collection to the new Photoshop 2020 🙂 Send me a facebook message and I’ll guide you through the process!
